This following activity is part of my December Update and Solstice Message.
What I desire for the New Year
Hang a representation in your home of what you desire for your sexual self, sexual life, sexual expression etc. I like to keep mine up for at least 21 days. It does not have to be an explicit image but it sure can be. Hang it where you will see it every day that feels comfortable for you. No one else has to know what it represents*.
Some ideas for inexplicit symbols:
A watch could represent more time for self pleasure
A symbol of fire could represent passion
A notebook could represent learning or sexuality workshop
Scales could represent finding balance in your sexuality
And the list goes on.
More explicit imagery can be:
A picture of a new sex position
A picture of the sex toy you want or even a sex toy itself.
If you’re not sure what to hang, decide what you desire and then find an image to represent it. Alternatively; create your own image or write out the desire and place it rolled up in a small container.
Ideas of where to hang it:
Beside your bed
In the living room
In your bedroom closest
On a tree (part of a holiday tradition or not). Trees are good symbols for growth.
*Only you can decide how and if involving others is right for you.
4 ways to involve partner(s):
1. Simply share with your partner(s):
- Let them know you’ve done this activity and/or what you desire for the coming year.
2. Adding on to #1:
- Sit down together and discuss specifics around your intention.
- You can include why you chose it and what, if any, role they could play.
3. Do this activity together:
- Each person hangs an item representing their personal desire.
- Share with each other what it is.
- You can include why you chose it and what, if any, role they could play.
4. Adding on to #3:
- Decide on a desire for your sexual relationship together.
- Choose one representation.
- Hang it together.
